Construction Impacts for 2020-21 Room Sign Up

POTENTIAL CONSTRUCTION IMPACTS DURING 2020-2021

We’re growing!  In order to better meet current student demand, as well as to move closer to our goal of being able to guarantee University housing for four years for incoming freshmen and for two years for incoming transfer students, UCLA Housing is in the middle of construction on 3 sites!  One of these sites is on-campus, located on De Neve Drive between Hitch Suites and Saxon Suites.  The other two sites are off-campus, one at the former Warren Hall, located adjacent to Weyburn Terrace, and one at the former University Extension building on Le Conte Ave.

As undergrad returners are preparing to make their 2020-2021 room selections during RSU, we wanted to give you our best preliminary estimates at this time for potential construction related impacts for the 2020-2021 academic year.

On-Campus:

Construction on the site between Hitch Suites and Saxon Suites will impact traffic on De Neve Drive, and will create intermittent moderate to high noise and dust impacts to nearby buildings. Construction is expected to take place 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays for the duration of the academic year. Regular construction updates can be found on the main Housing Construction page.

Specific buildings and rooms expected to be most affected include:

Hedrick Hall (HED): high intermittent noise impacts to southern facing rooms, including Hedrick North, all floors, rooms ending in odd numbers x01 – x17; and Hedrick South, all floors, rooms ending in even numbers x52 – x86.

Hitch Suites (HIT): high intermittent noise and dust impacts to eastern facing rooms, including A, rooms 11, 21, and 31; and all of buildings B, C, and D.

Rieber Hall (RIE): moderate to high intermittent noise impacts to southern facing rooms along the northwest corner of Rieber North, all floors, room numbers ending in x62 – x86.

Rieber Terrace (RT): high intermittent noise impacts to all floors, room numbers ending in x55 – x68; and moderate noise impacts to all floors, even numbered rooms ending in x06 – x14.

Rieber Vista (RV): high intermittent noise impacts to all floors, room numbers ending in x50 – x61; and moderate to high noise impacts to all floors, rooms ending in x05 – x28.

Saxon Suites: high intermittent noise and dust impacts to all of buildings E, F, and H; and high intermittent noise impacts to building G, rooms ending in x1 – x4.

Maps of the buildings will be available via the housing portal during the Room Sign Up process. To view maps outside of Room Sign Up, visit the UCLA Housing Map.

Off-Campus:

Construction on the Le Conte Ave. site will impact parking availability and create intermittent moderate to high noise, dust, or traffic impacts to nearby buildings. Construction is expected to take place 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays for the duration of the academic year. Regular construction updates can be found on the main Housing Construction page.

Levering Terrace Apartments: Located between both University Apartment construction sites, there will be moderate to high intermittent noise, dust, and traffic impacts. Parking is not an option in Levering Terrace Apartments.

Parking Impacts: We anticipate having no parking in Gayley Court (GC) and Landfair Apartments (LF). Parking will not be an option in these buildings. There will be extremely limited parking at Glenrock West (GW). Please keep in mind if selecting Glenrock West there is a high probability we will not be able to offer you parking.
