Summer Housing in the Saxon Suites

About the Saxon Residential Suites

Hitch SuitesLocated across the street from Rieber Hall, the Saxon Suites are the designated residential suites for all the Summer Sessions. Saxon Suites offer a community living experience with the advantage of private units in a garden setting. The residential suites are fully furnished two-bedroom units without kitchens. Students share a living room and bathroom. Two or three people share a bedroom in the suites, with two bedrooms per suite. Laundry facilities are also available in the Saxon Suite complex.

Amenities include a central laundry facility, a large community lounge, and vending machines. The Saxon Suites are not air conditioned. Additionally, Saxon Suites residents are also encouraged to participate in all the activities and excursions offered to residence hall residents.

Dining Services

All on-campus summer housing contracts include a meal plan and residents must select either a 11, 15, or 21 meals per week plan. Meals are provided in nearby dining facilities. During the summer, Dining Services operates differently than during our academic school year and Summer Session students may be restricted to specific dining locations, have varying meal hours, and be offered summer conference menus (i.e. we do not offer 'premier" meal plans or Bruin Plate menus). Please visit during your stay for current information regarding meal hours, available dining facilities, and daily menus.

Room and Suite Furnishings

Rooms and suites are carpeted, and each student has use of a twin bed, desk, chair, bookcase, and drawer space. Suite bedrooms are shared by either two or three students. All suites have chairs, coffee tables, and a sofa in the living room. Amenities also include cable TV and computer network connections in every room.

Upon arrival at the Saxon Suites, each resident is provided one set of bed linens, a pillow and blanket, and a towel and wash cloth for use during their summer stay. A refrigerator rental service is available to students when they arrive; one small refrigerator no larger than 6 cu. ft. is allowed in each room.

Building Access

There is no central entrance to the suite complex. Each suite has an external entrance and is accessed by a key. Residents will be provided with a photo ID card that will give them access to the residence halls and dining room.

Telephones are provided in each room with free calls to other campus phone numbers. Telephone calling cards can be purchased at the Front Desk for local, long distance and international calls.

Activities and Special Events

As part of the Saxon Suites Summer Session experience, a host of activities and special events are planned for residents throughout the summer. These include movie nights, barbecues, dances, and organized trips to places throughout Southern California. It's a great way to meet new people, make friends, and have some fun!

No Smoking Policy

UCLA is a smoke-free campus. Smoking is not permitted at the residential suites or anywhere on the UCLA campus.
