Summer Housing in the Residence Halls

About the Residence Halls

Residence HallThe residence halls are located on a hill overlooking the campus. Rieber Hall is the designated residence hall for all the Summer Sessions. The residence hall has fully furnished bedrooms that are set for double and triple accommodations. Each floor has two bathrooms (one male and one female).

The residence halls offer 24-hour front desk service, music practice rooms, study rooms, and a computer lab. Laundry facilities are also available in the building. The residential rooms in Rieber Hall are not air conditioned.

Dining Services

All on-campus summer housing contracts include a meal plan and residents must select either a 11, 15, or 21 meals per week plan. Meals are provided in nearby dining facilities (the exact locations will be determined closer to summer). During the summer, Dining Services operates differently than during our academic school year and Summer Session students may be restricted to specific dining locations, have varying meal hours, and be offered summer conference menus (i.e. we do not offer 'premier" meal plans or Bruin Plate menus). Please visit during your stay for current information regarding meal hours, available dining facilities, and daily menus.

Residence Hall Room Furnishings

Students live on coed floors in rooms that are shared by either two or three students. Each room is carpeted and includes a twin bed, desk, chair, bookcase, closet, and drawer space for each student. There is also cable TV and computer network connections in each room. Designated male and female community restrooms with private showers are located on each floor.

Upon arrival, each resident is provided one set of bed linens, a pillow and blanket, and a towel and wash cloth for use during their summer stay. A refrigerator rental service is available to students when they arrive; one small refrigerator no larger than 6 cu. ft. is allowed in each room.

Building Access

Rieber DiningThe residence halls are equipped with a 24-hour access control system. Upon check in, residents are provided with a photo ID card that will give them access to the residence hall and dining room. In the evening, the main lobby doors are monitored for additional security.

Telephones are provided in each room with free calls to other campus phone numbers. Telephone calling cards can be purchased at the Front Desk for local, long distance and international calls.

Activities and Special Events

As part of the residence hall summer session experience, a host of activities and special events are planned for residents throughout the summer. These include movie nights, barbecues, dances, and organized trips to places throughout Southern California. It's a great way to meet new people, make friends, and have some fun!
